Product Information

The RC4Magic-900SX DMX4dim-500 is a low-voltage 42A 4-channel wireless DMX dimmer for LEDs, lamps, and motors in set pieces, props, costumes, and more.

RC4Magic-900 operates in the 902-928 MHz RF band, licensed ONLY for use in USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In other jurisdictions, including Europe, Asia, and Africa, our RC4 2.4GHz LumenDim systems are ideal.

Each DMX4dim-500 purchase comes with one set of Anderson Powerpole Connectors.

One of RC4’s most powerful dimmers in the 900MHz bandwidth, the RC4Magic-900SX DMX4dim-500, gives users four channels of dimming with a total current capacity of 500 watts at 12 volts and 1000 watts at 24volts. Interference from other wireless devices is literally a thing of the past when using the 900SX series of products, and the result is a signal that’s faster, more secure, and more reliable.

The RC4Magic-900SX DMX4dim-500 includes a built-in radio receiver and uses RC4 OneTouch™ for easy assignment of any DMX channel and dimmer curve to any dimmer with a single press of a single button. Device configuration can also be done with Remote Device Management (RDM) and RC4 Commander Configuration Software.

The RC4Magic-900 SX DMX4dim-500 features include:

  • PWM frequencies Optimizations for power handling, smoothest resolution, eliminating artifacts in video, and eliminating noise in audio systems.
  • RC4 Digital Persistence™ A carefully engineered thermal model makes LEDs fade up and down like incandescent and halogen lamps.
  • HSL Color Controller Choose to use Hue/Saturation/Level (brightness) control of color if desired.
  • RC4 ColorMatch™ Match color palettes and white-balance different LED sources from different manufacturers.
  • RC4 Flkr Effects Engine™ Create personalized visual effects, including fire, welding spark, and much more.
  • Remote Device Management (RDM) The DMX standard for device configuration, including E1.37 dimmer control extensions.
  • RC4 CodeLoader™  Update firmware to add features.  Since 2014, more than 10 new features have been added at no cost to users!

The SX Series of products now includes 19-bit dimming, which is eight times finer than 16-bit with a whopping 524,288 steps of resolution. For users, this means exceptionally smooth LED dimming, especially at the bottom end of the curve. All RC dimmers also feature Curve Tweak – the ability to fine-tune between true linear and true ISL to find the perfect fit for any particular LED source. You can even tweak each primary color differently. Dimming is suddenly as smooth as silk.

RC4’s Hue/Saturation/Level (HSL) Color Controller delivers best-in-class color consistency over the entire dimming range, ensuring precise mix ratios even at very low dimmer levels. Unlike single-channel DMX control of color from a console, the RC4 HSL Color Controller maintains high ratiometric precision throughout the dimming range.

Worried about PWM frequencies? All RC4 Series 3 dimmers provide low, mid, high and supersonic PWM frequencies while eliminating a myriad of problems, from visible strobing to audio interference.

the DMX6dim is ideal for use with the dimmers built-in RC4 Flkr Effects Engine™. Using DMX channels for control, dynamic animated effects are easily and quickly created — this is not a canned effect generator, it is a tool for creating unique looks to suit any need.

Anderson Powerpole connectors are provided for connection of the power supply ( /-DC IN red/black) and load devices (two red OUT terminals, -DimA grey, -DimB grey, -DimC grey, -DimD grey, -DimE grey, -DimF grey). The supply powers both the internal electronics and the connected loads. Dimmers switch on the negative side of the circuit, ideal for common-anode (common positive) LED tape and panels. The dimmer output voltage is precisely the DC power input voltage with no appreciable losses within the 42A total power handling of the device.  When operating at or near the maximum power capacity, Anderson 45A pins must be used at the power input, all wiring must be appropriately sized and in compliance with applicable electrical codes, and external fuses or circuit breakers should be used at the power source and in each individual dimmer circuit.

The mini-plug wired DMX data port can be used with a range of RC4 DMX cables, including 3-pin and 5-pin male and female XLR adapters. The most common adapter is the RC4DMX5FA with 5-pin female XLR connector.  This port can output DMX data to nearby fixtures including fog machines, moving lights, and projector dousers. The DMX port can also be configured as a DMX input, allowing the DMX4dim-500 to be used as a wired dimmer.

With a wired connection, a comprehensive RDM implementation includes E1.37 dimmer configuration parameters, numerous status sensors (voltage, temperature, current), and each individual dimmer appears as an RDM sub-device.

Need to work with a battery pack? The RC4Magic-900 SX DMX4dim-500 is perfectly paired with the 30-volt battery belts that are used extensively in film.

Great intro to (Monty) Python...
Format: Hardcover
Quick start books are really really good. Get right to the topic but in a way that does not leave your head swimming. Great intro text to the language that will prepare the reader for deeper tomes with the added bonus of a pretty well structured intro project. Recommend this publisher and will be looking for more of their titles.

Great for reluctant readers
Format: Paperback
This book is great for reluctant readers. I got this for my niece and her mother asked if I knew of any other graphic novels like this one because of how much my niece loved reading it. I ended up reading it and the story is very enjoyable and inspiring. The art is exceptional. I was very happy to find that there are more in the series. I bought both the first and second ones for my step daughter and other nieces this Christmas. Highly recommend!

Foster Care! Magic Paint! Superheroes! OH MY!
Format: Kindle
This was a great read. I loved everything about it. The artwork is vivid. The main character’s personality is spot-on. The humor was great. Ashley is a girl in a world where she is herself and nobody else. At least, that’s what she thinks. Really, she’s a girl stuck in foster care because her dad’s in jail. She has a carefree attitude on the outside, but on the inside she’s really tender-hearted. Then one day a new family shows up, attempting foster care with Ashley. She’s living pretty nicely there and she’s made a friend named Luke. Then one day her foster mom comes home acting kind of strange. Later, Ashley decides to snoop into what’s in that mysterious suitcase her foster mom brought in and hid in a closet. She and Luke find paint. Lots of tubes of paint. Ashley puts them on her skin, because she “likes the texture.” This is where I think it’s waaaaay too obvious that what she’s doing has to be specifically made like that for the storyline. It’s okay though, they do an okay job of hiding it. Anyway. These paints are magic paints that give the person who wears them superpowers! So of course Ashley has to go and use them and be a superhero she calls ‘Primer’. But her foster mom’s job wants those paints she brought home back. So they send their roughest, toughest soldier to retrieve them. Ashley, of course, has a fight with her foster mom about it, and Ashley decides to run away, taking the paints with her. Then obviously the soldier dude shows up, with a bunch of robots. There it just turns into your normal superhero fight scene, but then Ashley loses and the paints are taken except the teleportation one. The soldier, by the way, is named Strack. So then Ashley’s like, “Oh no, I’ll neeever be a hero” even though obviously she will, this is a superhero story. Suddenly her phone is ringing. It’s her foster dad and mom. She picks up their video call and it’s STRACK! He’s adult-napped her foster parents, of course. She debates going to fight Strack, or to just leave it. She goes with leave it until she looks up and sees a painting she made and this suddenly gives her confidence, for reasons unknown. So then there’s another big fight scene with Strack, but Ashley is overconfident like she knows she can’t die, it’s a book and that would be devastating for little ones reading it. Anyway, she wins and frees her parents and they all live happily ever after. So, this story ends in a cliffhanger that’s not a very good one. It’s just Ashley’s REAL dad seeing her on TV from when she went out and was a superhero the first time, and he’s like, “You’re not Primer, every father knows his daughter’s eyes, ASHLEY. See you soon.” So if I was hanging from a cliff here, I would be attached to it with a safety cable and I would be laying on the top of the cliff, with only my foot hanging off. It’s not much of a cliffhanger. This was a great book about a female superhero. Oh, and another thing I forgot to mention, there is a page you should skip if you are reading to a child under seven. Page…. Let’s see here… oh yes. Page seventy-seven. It involves a gun and likely shooting afterwards, but it isn’t shown. I am a very sensitive person, and even I, an almost-teen was kind of rustled by it. Anyways, great story, lovely artwork, good book. I’m rounding up from 4.5 stars. -written by a tween
