Fredi Torres' "Classic" Priorat is anything but classic. It's much more firmly rooted in the new wave of wines that have flowed from Priorat's steeps in the last five to ten years than the 'classic' wines that made the region famous during the reign of Robert Parker. Priorat's terroir can almost effortless give body and structure to wines, especially when fortified with French varietals like Cabernet and Syrah. But the best of the new wave, which for us includes Fredi Torres couple that deep-set fruit with a remarkable elegance and purity - generally thanks to the indigenous varietals like Garnacha (70% of this blend) and Samso (30%) which retain their freshness and acidity through the hot Mediterranean growing seasons.

This wine is produced from organically grown fruit in the town of Gratallops, fermented and aged in a mixture of concrete and fibreglass to retain freshness. It's full of dark, pure and fresh blackberry and raspberry fruit - backed by a wave of Mediterranean herbs and crushed fennel. It's big and powerful without ever seeming to overwhelm.
