The Takumi KURO is a step up in resolution and precision, introducing a boron cantilever and nude elliptical stylus for improved tracing accuracy and transient definition. Its low-impedance design ensures fast response and minimal noise. The KURO extracts more low-level detail and stereo depth than its predecessor, delivering cleaner transient edges and greater image stability — especially at high frequencies — while retaining the musical ease and natural tonal balance that defines the Takumi sound.
Sound Character
With its lighter, stiffer boron cantilever and sharper nude elliptical stylus, the KURO extracts more low-level detail and stereo depth. Transient edges become cleaner, complex harmonic textures are easier to follow, and the soundstage gains greater focus and image stability — particularly in the high frequencies.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Takumi AKA and KURO?
The KURO upgrades to a boron cantilever (lighter and stiffer than aluminum) and a nude elliptical stylus (more precise groove tracing than a bonded conical). This results in greater detail retrieval, cleaner transients, and improved stereo imaging.
What phono stage do I need for the Takumi KURO?
The KURO outputs 0.26 mV and requires a high-gain MC phono stage. Load resistance of 100–470 Ω is recommended.
Is a nude stylus better than a bonded stylus?
Yes. A nude stylus uses a solid diamond attached directly to the cantilever, whereas a bonded stylus has the diamond cemented onto a shank. Nude styli track more accurately, produce better high-frequency response, and cause less groove wear.
